For example: if you are using long edge (portrait) binding, but wish to use your book in landscape orientation, do you want the verso pages (normally the "back" of the sheet, when printed both sides) to be rotated? However, it might matter a great deal to you! So please think carefully about how your completed book will look. For example you may want long edge (Portrait) binding, but physically use your book in a Landscape orientation (the pages would be flipped over the top).
It doesn't matter to us which way UP you are going to read your book, we know which edge we have to bind.Hopefully these notes might help you to catch a few last minute errors BEFORE they go to print. You should have sorted all of this out in the copy editing stage of creating your book. Please remember that we don't check your book design or proof read your book for you.
Here are some further notes that may help you. Portrait orientation has the long edge bound, Landscape has the short edge bound. It's important to note that when we refer to orientation, this governs which edge of the book is punched and bound. Think of paintings on a wall, landscape paintings tend to be wider than they are tall, portraits tend to be narrower than they are tall. Portrait means that the width is less than the height, landscape means that the width is greater than the height.
